For thirty-three years, Scott served in various roles at Plant With Purpose, becoming the director in 1995. During that time, the organization expanded operations from serving a handful of families in the Dominican Republic to working with nearly 750,000 people in 9 countries around the world, while the budget grew from $230,000 to nearly $15 million. 

Through journal articles, public speaking, and his book, “Tending to Eden”, Scott has been an advocate for locally led community development and reforestation as key components of sustainable work around the world. 

Before working for Plant With Purpose, he served for seven years in the Navy. Scott received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Oregon State University, as well as a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of San Diego. Outside of work, Scott enjoys sailing and spending time with his family. He also believes that everything can be better expressed through a song lyric.
